PD Challenge 1 - Word It Out

Name of Topic: Word It Out!
Fabric(s): Silk and a thin leather that's flexible and dye-able.
Color Scheme: A mix of extreme warm and cool colors such as indigo, orange, a pearly pink, and a warm orange-yellow. Also with black accents and dark shapes.
Model: Oenone
Your Favorite Word: Aurora - Aurora is the goddess of dawn, hence the naming of the Aurora Borealis, a combination of the goddess of dawn and the Greek name for wind - Boreas. It denotes a time of peace and wonder.
Description: This is a dress inspired by the winter dawn and the dark shadows that are silhouetted against the sky. Her shape is very stark when still, but made of a loose flowy material that shifts and sways in the wind like the lights in the sky. In the back, I cut it in a teardrop shape to show some skin without being overbearing, and is draped so it's not bunched up. I live in a place where winter is half the year, and my favorite time is early dawn when all the trees and houses become black statues against bright colors like these. Because of that, I also made this a winter-esque dress. Silk, while thin, is also extremely comfortable, easily dyed, and a insulator to keep you warm. Paired with black opaque tights and slouchy leather boots, to complete the contrast and be practical. The belt/corset is made of a thin, dyed leather and held together by cut out pieces of thicker black leather in the back and front, and black silk ribbons.

I had a ton of fun doing this, and other words I was tempted to use were solstice, equinox, eclipse, and twilight. I love weather phenomenons. < 3
